5 Sneaker Trends You Must Know Now!

In my latest post I elaborated on sneakers history. Now it’s time to take a look at the most important sneaker highlights of 2018 you really must know!

1. Chunky Sneakers

At least since Balenciaga dropped their sneaker “Triple S” last year, diverse brands like Fila with their model “Disruptor”, adopted the literally bold statement. What surprised me was the brand Sketchers, which lately came up with some similar chunky ones called “D’Lites” (photo above) on a much lower budget! Got an eye on this brand now… And for those who would like to keep it low with the chunkyness: The brand Alexander McQueen has it’s classy sneaker version since a few years now which really matches this chunky trend in a more elegant way.

2. Plateau Sneakers

Horizontally rainbow colored foam at Dior, vertically rainbow striped soles at Superga or just plain plateau soles. The higher the better.

3. Sock Sneakers

Once again it’s Balenciaga breaking the rules by transferring sneakers into socks with soles in 2016. Those cool statement pieces can lately also be found at Acne, Vetements or Off-White x Adidas with their model NMD. Get some inspiration here:

4. Fancy Soles

Well, there are some sneakers popping up, which make your outfit look very crazy through their soles. Some are reminding me of shark fins like those ones at Dolce & Gabbana. Some look like bubbles of air if you take a look at the Vapormax from the collaboration Off-White x Nike from this year. See some extravagant sole variations here:

5. Wedges

We obviously have to get used to this trend. Stella McCartney discovered it since 2013 with some wooden soles, now adopting the striped foam trend. But apart from that they are rare on the runways up to now. In shops I felt that they never went away, but I’ve never seen anyone wearing them on the streets. I don’t really know why, but since a few weeks i have the feeling, that wedges are making their way back to the runway soon. We’ll see…
